The colorful knit patterns from the tiny little island Fair Isle in Northern Scotland has inspired crafty knitters all over the world for decades and began its popularity when the notorious prince of Wales sported the traditional sweater vests in the early 1920’s. Since then the knitting technique has been ever so popular for classic leisurewear for the Autumn and Winter season for men as well as women.
This is our take on the classic Fair Isle knit. A fabulously feminine dress richly patterned in plenty of colors at the top of the chest, back, and sleeves, and with borders of pattern on the sleeves and at the bottom. The dress has a lovely silhouette that is fitted at the top with a ribbed waistband to mark your waist and a wonderfully draping skirt that swirls right below your knees. The dress has slightly puffed shoulders and full length sleeves with ribbed cuffs. It’s thinly knit but in wool and being so covering at the chest, sleeves, and knees that it is a full outfit in itself. Something which makes dressing in the morning a piece of cake! And you don’t even have to hide the lovely dress under a cardigan unless it’s really freezing!
Apart from being very beautiful, this knitted dress is the most comfortable and practical piece of clothing you can own! The wool yarn gives it a beautiful drape, not to mention how warm it is. This dress doesn’t crease so it’s perfect for packing in your suitcase. Emmy herself always wears something like this for comfort during long travels and to arrive in style. It fits every occasion and is extremely comfortable! You can easily wear it to the next Christmas party but it may also become your new favorite dress for the office.
The dress is knit in a mercerized wool blend that will keep its charms for many years to come.
Material: Medium heavy yarn in wool mix in dusty blue with pattern in navy, sand, wine, and cream white. 70 % wool 30 % acrylic. Mercerized yarn in very high quality.
