“Shoo Shoo baby” is a hit song by the Andrew Sisters which broke through during World War II. If you do not already know it, you should definitely look it up! It is really catchy and has inspired the name of this very creation. The entire ensemble here is in fact a reproduction of an original vintage 1940s set from designer Emmy’s private collection.
Around the 1940-1960s most sleeveless dresses came with a matching bolero. We think this is a marvelous idea which definitely deserves a comeback!
This dress is flattering and pretty in all its simplicity and the matching bolero really widens the perspective when it comes to possibilities of use. It is a real cherry on the top!
The diagonal cut of the dress gives it a lovely drape and slimming silhouette even though it has no shaping darts or cut at the waist. The intriguing chest piece is ruffled below the bust to highlight this area. To fit the era and silhouette the dress is a bit longer than our other dresses. Despite the slimness of the shoulder straps we have placed them to overlap with most bra-straps and to make them more adjustable - we have even left an extra little bit of strap hidden in the back in case you need to alter their length. Thanks to the long zipper on the back it is very easy to get in and out of this beauty. To complete this authentic piece detailing in white pique accentuates the chest area and even translates to the hem of the bolero to really tie together the two pieces.
The white collar of the bolero is also used to frame the entire garment. On the back the hem ends in decorative pointed edges towards the lower part of the back. This is clever and decorative detailing typically for the nifty wartime seamstresses. The puffy sleeves fit narrowly, but of course not too narrow, around the arms and have a pleat at the bottom to make them extra puffy at the shoulders but lean at the bottom.
Material: Bengaline in pale lemon yellow. 98% polyester 2% spandex. Detailing in bright white pique.
